Q: What design trends are you looking forward to this spring?

Katy: "As we approach Spring this year, I can’t wait for material trenching to take over our Instagram feeds and Pinterest boards. Material trenching is essentially the use of one material, whether it’s wood, fabrics or tiles taking over the shell and envelope of a room. We will see kitchens that are encapsulated by different wooden tones, and bathrooms that are covered floor to ceiling in tiles and it’s going to be so sick! One thing I’m not 10000% sure I want to see is pattern drenching, but that’s likely going to be a thing this spring too, with the use of matching dramatic patterns across spaces - it’s a no from me!"

Q: How do you bring a fresh and seasonal feel to a space without full re-design?

Katy: "I think for me, there are three things you can keep on rotation while the seasons change. The first is textile and soft furnishing changes, so you can switch out your cosy blankets, furry cushion covers and heavy curtains for your linen counterparts. Second up is your florals and indoor plants. Seasons switch ups of these can immediately give your space a whole new vibe and aesthetic. For a spring touch, try to pick up some peonies, tulips or ferns, and leave your winter paperwhites and snake plants in the past. Finally, I’d suggest putting your winter cinnamon spice and vanilla bean candles in the cupboard, and bringing out a mix of floral fragrances such as lavenders, and wildflower scents. These fresh spring scents will help your home feel like and smell like a new season."

Q: What are your favourite spring colour palettes to work with?

Katy: "Spring for me is all about embracing a feeling of lightness and freshness. You feel the fresh spring air, and you want to bring this inside. Therefore, my favourite spring colour palettes would be soft pastels, soft blues, matched with your crisp whites and warm neutrals."

Q: Can you share easy ways to incorporate florals and greenery indoors?

Katy: "I’m not the best at keeping plants alive, so an easy ways for me is to home some small potted plants like snake plants and ferns in decorative pots around the house. Patch Plants and Beards & Daisies are probably my go-to for these. I also love flowers, receiving flowers is my love language, so naturally, keeping seasonal blooms such as tulips, daisies and peonies in cool and eclectic vases around the home is an easy win to integrate florals at home for me."

Q: What small decor swaps make the biggest impact in welcoming spring?

Katy: "For me, I’d say swapping out my bed linen makes the biggest impact in my home. It’s where I start and end my day, so this definitely make a big impact in my home. But as I said before I think keeping those three things on rotation across the seasons really help to update your home as we transition through the year - soft furnishings, plants and florals and home fragrances. All super easy and super small swaps that can make an incredible impact."

Zoe: "I LIVE for bright skies, sunshine and warmer temperatures so at a glimpse of spring I am ready and waiting to freshen up my home and bring the light in! For me the simplest way to transition any space through the seasons is with home decor and accessories. One of my favourite picks for the new season is from H&M Home's incredible spring decor collection. The Arket Irregular Glass Vase is a simple reminder to bring in the seasons blooms in and freshen up the living room, your kitchen, bedroom, infact every room! Nothing beats fresh flowers and I think having an selection of well curated vases adds personality to any space."

Q: Are there any spring design trends that you will always love / think are timeless

Zoe: "I think bringing the outdoors in has to be a classic! Filling vases filled with tulips, daffodils and wild foliage; changing heavy curtains over to sheer blinds to let more light in, and circulating scents of fresh linen either with candles or diffusers will always be almost like a past time for me. My all time favourite scent for a reed diffusers is Zara Home's White Jasmine! It comes out in my home every April."

Q: Are there any specific patterns, textures or fabrics that feel most ‘spring’ to you?

Zoe: "When the temperature starts to get warmer, swapping out fabrics and textures is a must. My go to choices tend to be softer, lighter textures and natural materials like linens and cottons, especially across my bedding, throws ,cushion covers and somethings in my towels too. I also like to use the time of year to inject a little pop of colour. Hues like yellow, blue, and green can create a space that feels fresh and revitalised. Usually pairing these colours with natural materials can just make a space feel like the perfect chill spot. This approach not only brightens the room but also captures the essence of renewal and rejuvenation that defines the season."

Q: How would you style open shelves or displays to keep them fresh?

Zoe: "I think styling open shelves or displays to keep them fresh involves a combination of creativity, balance, and season updates. My Essential Spring Interior Design Tips to help you achieve a visually appealing and dynamic display is to 1- Rotate items, so swap out your current display of books for what your looking forward to reading over the summer, treat yourself to a new set of bookends whilst your there. 2 - Add something green, be it fresh blooms or a hanging plant, bring in a little nature. 3- Change the materiality in your decor, replace an opaque vase to a transparent or coloured glass one that will reflect the sunlight. 4 - Add personal touches, often spring and summer are social seasons so why not, add a new framed picture with your loved ones."

Q: What’s one spring design cliché/trend you’d happily retire?

Zoe: "Whilst anyone who knows me well knows that Spring and Easter are one of my favourite times of the year, hosting family and friends, spring cleaning and easter eggs, and I know I said I love the idea of fresh flowers in every room, but the one thing I’ve never liked is floral prints during spring, in fact i'm not the biggest fan any time of year. Instead I think understated nods to spring go a long way."
